Public Safety

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

Our community has a commitment to public safety that’s unmatched. Dedicated Town Center Rangers and mounted patrol, combined with local firefighters and police officers, ensure The Woodlands is a place where the visitor experience is not only seamless, it’s incredibly safe.

TOWN CENTER RANGERS

The Woodlands' Town Center is home to shopping, dining, live music and more. The incredibly walkable area, where most conferences and events occur, is patrolled daily by the Town Center Rangers. The Rangers provide helpful tips to those exploring the area, work to maintain the cleanliness of Town Center, and watch for suspicious activity as they drive around on their Global Electric Motorcars (GEMs).

Town Center Rangers work from 6 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily, 364 days out of the year. The Woodlands also has Park Rangers who patrol the entirety of The Woodlands daily. In total, there are 48 Park and Town Center Rangers who help keep our community safe.

MOUNTED PATROL

Along with the Town Center Rangers, The Woodlands has mounted patrol officers throughout Town Center. For over 25 years, the A&O Mounted Patrol team has upheld the original vision for bringing public safety to The Woodlands. These officers on horseback watch for nuisance disturbances, loitering, and criminal activity. They work 367 hours a week, and are often seen around The Woodlands Mall, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and other shopping districts in The Woodlands.

POLICE OFFICERS & FIREFIGHTERS

There are 113 police officers and 163 firefighters who are dedicated to public safety in The Woodlands. In 2022, The Woodlands Fire Department became classified as Public Protection Class 1, the highest classification possible and one of the very few in the nation to achieve this level of certification.

The Woodlands Township also has a Neighborhood Watch program that has provided award-winning crime prevention programming for over 30 years. This program, alongside committed public safety officers, is one of the many reasons that The Woodlands was ranked one of the top places to live in America by Niche.com for multiple years in a row.
